When getting your kids in the kitchen is to think about what you’re going to make. How much your kids are going to be able to help. Maybe they can do almost all of it on their own, or all of it. There are some great recipes for kids.
Kids in the Kitchen – Recipes for Kids

I have more than a couple of recipes in my recipe box here, that you can pick and choose from. The first thing that Austin made on her was corn chowder. A meal that she already loved, and one that has very few ingredients that you need to prep.
She has since moved on to other recipes that she loves to make for lunch a few times a week.
Picking something they love to eat is a great way to get reluctant chefs or bakers in the kitchen.
There are a lot of cookbooks out there specially made for kids. We have checked a lot out of the library, and love this Berenstain Bears one so much that we own it. It helps to be familiar with the recipe yourself, so you know what they should be doing each step.
Recipes for Kids to Make
I have a number of recipes that you can make with your kids, or that your kids can make with little to no help.
Cinnamon Roll Baked Oatmeal – This is a super easy meal to mix together. I don’t bother to use a mixer as it is a wet mix. You just may need to lend a hand with the oven.
Apple Peanut Butter Wraps – These are perfect for the newest little cook in your kitchen. No heat is required, making it perfect for any age to help with.
Mom’s Thumb Print Cookies – These are fun to make together with your littles. They just love to press their finger or thumb into cookie dough.
Scrambled Egg with Apple – This is our favorite way to have scrambled eggs. They are easy to make, and because they have a little sweetness, your kid will like to make and eat them.
Waffles – One small appliance that can make your morning so much better. My kids love making waffles, and there is the added bonus of not worrying about large hot appliances.
Blueberry Muffins – Yum. I love these, and my kids like to make them for breakfast or lunch.
No Bake Cookies– without or with peanut butter – These are our favorite summer treats. While I tend to do the hot pot part for my younger kids, they all love scooping the cookie “batter” onto a pan.
Corn Chowder – This was the first meal my oldest made. She still loves making it for us.
Potato Salad – Boil, boil, and peel eggs. This is really easy for anyone to make.
Caesar Salad – So simple, such a great side. Caesar salad doesn’t require any heat to make, and very little chopping.
Spaghetti – What could be easier to make than boiling pasta, heating pasta sauce, and then putting it together?
Sloppy Joes – Sloppy Joes are really easy to make and are perfect for kids to make. It’s not something that takes long to make which is one of the reasons I think it’s a good beginner meal to make.
Korean Beef – This is easy. Browning ground beef added seasoning. Making rice. Making rice that is not minute rice is not my strong suit.
Rainbow Cupcakes – These are fun to make. They are like an art project, perfect for St. Patrick’s day.
Pizza Muffins – These are easy, these are delicious, and as a bonus, they are perfect for making ahead for lunch.
Peanut Butter and Jam Bars – We love peanut butter in this house. These bars are a little more complicated than some others but definitely something your kids can make.
These are in no way the only things that you and your kids can make of course. Have fun, get in the kitchen and make a mess. After all, cleaning up afterward is part of the cooking experience, no matter how much you all might dislike it.
