Books about Summer Camp for Kids

Summer camp might not look the same this year but we’re still going to be having fun and creating our own summer backyard summer camp. One element we’ll be adding this year is books about summer camp for those rainy days when we are taking things a little slower. Summer camp books for quiet downtime is always a nice way to relax.

Froggy Goes to Camp – Froggy’s off to camp! He packs a lot into one week: archery lessons, food fights, and scary stories around the campfire. But only Froggy could also manage to lose his trunks during swim class and overturn his kayak with the camp director in it.

The Berenstain Bears Go to Camp – Join Brother and Sister as they head to Grizzly Bob’s Day Camp for the very first time. The cubs will get to play soccer, go swimming, kayak, and even make crafts!

Llama Llama Loves Camping – Llama Llama goes camping for the very first time and learns a valuable lesson: what seems scary can actually be super-duper FUN!

Shelly Goes to Summer Camp – Follow Shelly as she goes to sleep-away summer camp for the first time ever! At first scared and nervous, Shelly goes along to make great memories with amazing friends. A story about a quiet, shy girl in a new environment ends with the best gift of all: friendship!

Middle School Books about Summer Camp

Runaway Ralph – With a motorcycle to rev and the open road to see, Ralph S. Mouse is itching to run away from his overprotective family! But once he escapes to a summer campground nearby, the horrors of the wild make him doubt his plan. Angry cats, scary watchdogs, and grouchy gophers are only the half of it…

Rebekah – Girl Detective Goes to Summer Camp – Rebekah Daniels is excited about the summer. Like most nine-year-olds, she loves spending her days outside having adventures–especially because there’s sure to be a lot of mysteries to solve.

Desmond Cole Ghost Patrol – Camping with Desmond Cole is a lot of fun until he starts telling ghost stories around the campfire. Most kids tell creepy stories that are totally fake, but Desmond tells totally true stories that will give you goosebumps.

The Secret of Shadow Lake Being the new kid at camp is never easy, especially for a bigfoot, a hyperactive jackalope, a fairy who can barely fly, and the only human boy!

Plan Your Own Summer Camp

Sunny warm days are more fun to think of than cold windy days and homeschool lessons still to be completed. Having backyard summer fun planned at home is a great way to enjoy being at home this summer instead of taking a family vacation.

Let’s start planning our summer camp at home with a different theme for each week. I have 10 different themes to keep you and your kids entertained this summer at home.
