How to Make a Peanut Butter Mug Cake

It is really, really easy to make this single serve cake. Normally I make mine in a soup mug which is wider and leads to mug cakes that aren’t as deep, don’t take as long to cook. But I have made this in numerous mugs, and it’s delicious and quick in all.

Start by adding the dry ingredients into your mug, minus the chocolate chips, and mix those together.

Peanut Butter Cake Mug Cake step 1

Add the milk and peanut butter and cream it all together. Make sure you get it mixed down in the bottom edge of your bowl. No one wants to go for their last bite of peanut butter mug cake and find it is all flour.

Fold in two tablespoons of chocolate chips. And then drop the last tablespoon of chocolate chips on the top.

Microwave for one minute. If it is not done to your liking, put it back in again in 15-second increments. In my soup mug, 1 minute does the job, but in a regular coffee mug, it took 1 minute and 30 seconds.

Want to Add A Chocolate Pop of Flavor?

Instead of mixing in two tablespoons of chocolate chips, mix in one tablespoon. Then take one tablespoon of chocolate chips and push them into the center of your mug cake. Spread a little of the cake over the chocolate chips and continue following the recipe.

This will add a big pop of chocolate into the center of your mug cake.

Don’t Want Chocolate?

If you don’t want to have chocolate chips in your peanut butter mug cake? Or maybe you don’t have chocolate chips. Then you can definitely omit them. In fact, the first time I made this peanut butter mug cake, I didn’t have any chocolate chips and it was just as delicious. I just really like chocolate.
