7th Grade Reading List for Homeschool

Are you curious about what kind of books your child might be interested in as they go into grade seven? I wasn’t a big reader until high school so I have to search for titles I think are a good fit for my kids. I have a great 7th grade reading list for homeschool students, and public school students alike. And I can’t believe it, but I’ll have a seventh-grader in a few short months.

7th Grade Reading List for Homeschool

I have searched recommendation from other bloggers, Amazon, our local library, and what my kids are reading. Then there are some books that I do know I have read at some point and can recommend for this age.

When I say 7th grade reading list, I mean it’s a recommendation. Every child is ready for reading different books at different levels. I currently have two kids reading at about a grade six-level, but my seven-year-old isn’t ready to read more intense, more detailed books yet.

Reading level and understanding are different things. Just something to keep in mind.

Another thing to keep in mind would be that just because one child or teen loved a certain book, does not mean that your child will. Finding interesting books is the key to getting your kids interested in reading no matter their age.

Every Last Word

Samantha McAllister looks just like the rest of the popular girls in her junior class. But hidden beneath the straightened hair and expertly applied makeup is a secret that her friends would never understand. Second-guessing every move, thought, and word makes daily life a struggle. It doesn’t help that her lifelong friends will turn toxic at the first sign of a wrong outfit, wrong lunch, or wrong crush.

Five Feet Apart

Stella Grant likes to be in control—even though her totally out of control lungs have sent her in and out of the hospital most of her life. Stella needs to control most is keeping herself away from anyone or anything that might pass along an infection and jeopardize the possibility of a lung transplant. Six feet apart.

The only thing Will Newman wants to be in control of is getting out of this hospital. He couldn’t care less about his treatments or a fancy new clinical drug trial.

Will’s exactly what Stella needs to stay away from.

Now also a movie!

Everything, Everything

My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse.

Then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

Tell Me Three Things

Everything about Jessie is wrong. It’s been barely two years since her mother’s death, and because her father eloped with a woman he met online, Jessie has been forced to move across the country to live with her stepmonster and her pretentious teenage son, and to start at a new school where she knows no one.

She gets an email from a person calling themselves Somebody/Nobody (SN for short), offering to help her navigate the wilds of Wood Valley High School. Is it an elaborate hoax? Or can she rely on SN for some much-needed help?

The Sun Is Also a Star

Natasha: a girl who believes in science and facts. Not fate. Definitely not the kind of girl who meets a cute boy on a crowded New York City street and falls in love with him.

Daniel: I’ve always been the good son, the good student, living up to my parents’ high expectations. Never the dreamer. But when I see her, I forget about all that. Something about Natasha makes me think that fate has something much more extraordinary in store—for both of us.

The Girl in the Picture

Nicole has been labeled many things—the geeky music girl, the shy sidekick of Miss Popularity, and the girl with the scar. The girl in the picture.

After heartthrob Chace is found dead in the woods near the school, the police search for the girl snuggled up next to him in a picture discovered among his personal effects. Nicole is that girl, and now she’s the primary suspect in his murder.
