Maple Bacon Donuts – Mini Donut Recipe

Everyone here gets so excited when I out the mini donut maker. Who doesn’t love mini donuts that you can either pop into your mouth or eat like a two-bite brownie? I used to make cupcakes just like these which is where the inspiration for these maple bacon donuts came from. While I wouldn’t call them breakfast food even though they have bacon, they are a great dessert with delicious bacon topping.

Mix in the flour and milk alternating between the two to make mixing easier. We are currently without a stand mixer and I’m telling you, I missed it while I was mixing this donut batter!

This batter is too thick for my batter dispenser so I used a Ziploc to pipe it into my mini donut maker molds. Now, I have made mini donuts so many times. This time with the camera posed and ready to take pictures, the batter flowed a little too freely and coated my countertop. Yes. That was fun.

While your maple bacon mini donuts are baking you need to start making some icing. And you need to fry up some bacon! I used bacon bits because then the work of chopping up the bacon is already done for me.

Let your mini donuts and bacon bits cool down before you start dipping them into the frosting so that it doesn’t just runoff. Give it a minute to set and then add some chopped-up bacon onto your mini donuts.

I don’t have a maker but I have mini donut baking pans. What temperature and baking time do I need?
    Thank you!

    • I have never made them in the oven so I don’t have an answer for that. Sorry. You could probably base it on an oven-baked recipe you already have.
