Homeschooling on A Budget Products

If you are on a budget there are a lot of things that you do not need for your homeschool. Sure there are a lot of things you might want but you don’t really need them.

Like those shiny objects you don’t need, you also don’t need a big curriculum. There are many ways you can homeschool on a budget.

Using Curriculum

If you have multiple children, finding a curriculum you can use for multiple children is going to be a huge budget saver. There are many out there, they aren’t on the budget-friendly side all the time but there are ways to work around it. For example, you can buy the BookShark instructor guides and worksheets and then borrow the books from the library.

Picking a curriculum that you can reuse is going to save you in the long run.

Teachers Pay Teachers is a great resource for buying inexpensive learning materials as you need instead of putting up a large amount of money upfront at once.

Learning Materials

Do you really want those counting bears for your math lessons? Popsicle sticks from the dollar store are a great alternative! Or save them (and wash them) from summer popsicles.

Whiteboards are a great way to practice writing, instead of using up page after page of paper. You can find small, individual-sized ones at the dollar store.

Reading

You do not have to buy all the books. You don’t have to buy any books in fact. Books are expensive, and take up space in your home.

The public library is the best resource for your homeschool. Request books as you need them, some libraries allow you to schedule them so you can put the request in now, but not get the books for a couple of months.

In the end, you might discover that you only need to buy a math curriculum and you can handle creating the learning materials for the other subjects on your own. This is what we do now after many years of experience.
