Three Things to Consider When Moving to a New Property

Are you thinking about moving? Moving at first can seem like a big job (and in some aspects it is), but when you have committed to moving and decided where you are going to move, the rest of the process is exciting. It’s exciting to start your next chapter, exciting to get to know a new area and to welcome your friends and family members into your new home.

When moving into a new property, there are some considerations which you should think of beforehand. The first thing that springs to mind is, are there any maintenance tasks that need to be completed? For example, do you need to look into gutter cleaning services? Another thing to think about is getting your removal company booked ASAP.

To help get you started, below are three things to consider when moving to a new property.

Maintenance tasks

When moving, there are always going to be maintenance tasks which you will need to carry out on the new property. Are you going to need to repaint anything such as the fences in your garden? Is there anything damaged that needs replacing, such as a loose roof tile, or do you need to fix something like the washing machine? Before moving in, make a list of all the repairs. This way, you can put them in your budget and start sorting things out straight away.

Removals company

As soon as you know your move-in date for your new home, book a removals company. The sooner you get one booked, the better the price will be, as it won’t be last-minute. As well as this, you’ll benefit from being able to pick from a better range of suppliers, instead of being stuck with one company, as they have space free that day. When booking a removal company, always read the reviews; sites like Trustpilot are great for this, as you can read honest customer reviews.

Decluttering your current home

It’s not the most fun job to do, but it will need doing and save you time when it comes to the official move-in day. As the months approach the day you move, give yourself some time each week to declutter. Be strict, as the less stuff you have, the tidier your new place will be. It can be helpful to have a friend with you when you declutter, as this makes things more fun and they can be strict on you, making you throw away more items.

We hope your move is as smooth and stress-free as it can be. We also hope you don’t have many maintenance tasks to do when you move – this is why some people move to a new build to avoid this. How far away is your move-in day, and what are you most looking forward to with your new place? Are there any tips you would like to share with our readers to help them with their move?
