6 Steps for Starting Minimalist Homeschooling

Minimalist homeschooling provides you with less stress, chaos, and overwhelm! It teaches you to focus on your most important educational goals for your kids.

Minimalist homeschooling is more of a lifestyle choice, not a homeschool method. You are choosing to only focus on what is moving you and your kids towards the educational goals you have set. You have picked your path and you are not going to stray from it.

Start Fresh

If you have been homeschooling already it is a great idea to take some time to deschool. Take time to reset your idea of what school looks like for you and your kids. Similar to what you would do if you were pulling your child from public school.

Set Clear Goals

You need to know why you are homeschooling in the first place. Why you have chosen the curriculum or workbooks that you picked and how do they align with your goals.

Keep It Personal

You do not need to share every aspect of your homeschool journey with others. This can be huge as you work towards not comparing your journey to that of others.

Trust the Process

Not comparing your journey to that of others is allowing you to trust the process that you have chosen. There are going to be ups and downs. Things that don’t align with your why might tempt you, but you have this under control if you stick with your plan and focus on your goal.

It Is Not Necessary to Follow Inspiration Sites

You don’t need to compare your day 10 to someone’s day 100. Instagram is my favorite place to scroll, but think about what you are seeing there. Everybody has different minimalist homeschooling experiences.

Keep Sweet & Simple Goals

Homeschooling means you’re not bound by strict learning rules that are used in public schools. Keep learning as simple as you can, and you find that your child shows more interest in their studies.

You don’t need to change how you are currently homeschooling to start minimalist homeschooling. There is nothing wrong with any other technic if it is working for you and your family.

But if you are already living a minimalist lifestyle, you don’t have to think that homeschooling has to overwhelm your life with a lot of things.
