Who doesn’t love french toast? It can be a lot of work to make french toast just for one person to enjoy it. This single-serve french toast in a mug is perfect! Oh so good, an easy, the longest part of making it is the two minutes in the microwave. I am all about the single-serve recipes, whether I am sneaking a treat, or enjoying a quick breakfast before anyone else is up in my house.

How do I always forget how good french toast is? I make it for my kids quite often but I don’t always eat some with them. Then when I do have it, I think WHY, why do I not eat this every day?
What You Need:
- 1 piece buttered bread
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons syrup
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- a pinch of salt
- 1 tablespoon of chocolate chips
- Powdered sugar (optional)
- Cinnamon sugar (optional)
How to Make French Toast in a Mug
In your microwavable mug, mix together the egg, milk, syrup, cinnamon, and salt until all combined. It looks just like the normal french toast milk and egg you use when making french toast.
Cut off the sides of the bread (crusts) and slice your bread into square bite-sized pieces.
Add the bread to the mug and press them down so they are submerged within the liquid and the bread soaks in the egg mixture.
Add the chocolate chips to the mug and give a little stir to incorporate them into the mixture.
Microwave for a total of 2 minutes stopping halfway through to make sure it’s not going to explode over your microwave.
Sprinkle the optional cinnamon sugar on top, maybe drizzle a little more syrup on the top. Maybe sprinkle powdered sugar on top. How do you like your french toast? Top your french toast in a mug the same way you like your french toast.
Let cool for about 1-2 minutes.
